SECURE Event at Camas Ridge
Dear Camas Ridge Families,
We wanted to inform you that the school went into SECURE mode briefly this afternoon from 1:34-1:49 p.m. Outside the school I encountered an unknown man who became agitated after we spoke, and we then secured the building when he tried to come inside. We had our 4j safety team on site who responded and assisted with calling the Eugene Police; who responded and arrested the person for trespassing, taking him into custody and away from the area.
Our SECURE response locks outside doors while allowing school to safely continue operation inside. To learn more about the standard response protocols of Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuation or Shelter, and how 4J schools may respond to crisis situations to support student safety, visit the I Love U Guys Foundation.
We appreciate the support of students, staff and families in maintaining a safe school community. As always, we urge you to talk to your students about the importance of communicating school safety concerns with school staff: "See or Hear Something, Say Something!" In partnership with the Oregon State Police, Eugene School District 4J uses the Safe Oregon tip line, and reports can even be made anonymously: https://www.safeoregon.com/report-a-tip/.
The safety and well being of all of our students will continue to be our highest priority. Thank you for your partnership in this important process.
