Camas Ridge Families,

I hope most of you had a great week and got to enjoy some that early Spring Break weather.
School resumes on Tuesday April 1st!
We will have a lot happening over the next couple of months with 5th grade end of year activities, our Carnival, and our final presentation of student learning for the year.
I know its hard to stay on a schedule when school is on a break, and I just wanted to put the plug in for a gentle reminder that our students do best with a good nights sleep. We are all excited about getting back to our learning on the 1st.
Below we have some updates for April.

Camas Ridge Community School and the City of Eugene is working on a Safe Routes to School Plan

Does your student walk, bike, or roll to school? Would you like to make it safer for all students and families to walk, bike and roll?

With planning assistance from the Oregon Department of Transportation, the City of Eugene and Camas Ridge Community School are working on a Safe Routes to School Plan to improve conditions for students and families who walk and bike to school. We could use your help identifying challenges and opportunities for active transportation.

MORNING DROP OFF-Returning from Spring Break

A quick reminder Families,
If you’re driving and want to park and walk your student to the school, use street parking on University, Harris, or the north side of 29th. Do not park on 29th on the school side of the street—that’s for buses only.

There is NO PARKING in the main parking lot in front of the building for morning drop-off (7:35-7:55am) or
afternoon pick-up (2:25pm or Wed 1:10Pm)

MORNING DROP OFF FOR DRIVING FAMILIES:
We recommend approaching the drop off loop from Harris Street. Once you turn into the lot you will encounter a staff person helping manage traffic, be kind and be patient!
Drop off your child ONLY in the designated drop zone in front of the building.
Children must exit on the driver’s side. This is a quick drop-off area. If you want to walk your child to the door, please park elsewhere.
Remember, this is a school: Drive slowly, stay alert, and prioritize safety over speed.

MORNING DROP OFF FOR WALK-UP FAMILIES:
Kindergarten & First Grade:
Our kinder students will enter at the South East doors. Kinder parents are welcome to walk their students into the building & to the kindergarten classrooms, or to the cafeteria for breakfast.
First Grade will also enter through the South East doors in the morning.
Second & Third Grade:
Second & Third grade students will enter through the main doors & go through the breezeway to the blacktop for line up. Second & Third graders having breakfast will enter through the South East entrance.
Fourth & Fifth Grade:
Fourth & Fifth grade students will enter through the main doors & go through the breezeway to the blacktop for line up. Fourth & Fifth graders having breakfast will enter through the South East entrance.

Pick up Reminder

I wanted to send out with this newsletter a request, as we have students who are frequently left at Camas Ridge and we are not able to get a hold of parents.
  • We would really appreciate it at the front office if you could make sure and update any new contact information you have
  • Please remember that pick up time is 2:25pm every day except Wednesday's.
  • Wednesday's pick up time is 1:10pm/
  • Please understand that after school is dismissed for the day we as a staff have a lot to take care of and we cannot have students unsupervised at school waiting for pick up.
  • Please make arrangements with others who could pick up your student in case you were unable to do so.
