What’s Happening @ Camas Ridge – Remote Learning Edition

Good Afternoon,

Before what was-to-be Spring Break, 4J rolled out resources for learning at home. Learning activities are organized by grade level. They cover multiple subject areas and include consideration for students’ special needs and physical and mental wellness. Some activities include learning with devices and technology, while others do not—similar to the student experience during a typical school day.   Those resources can be found at https://www.4j.lane.edu/2020/03/resources-for-home-learning/

Today the entire staff of Camas Ridge met online via zoom to begin planning for the next few weeks.  It was new to most of us and not without a glitch or three, but it was wonderful to hear the voices and see the faces of our amazing staff.  Following our whole-group meeting, staff broke of into smaller groups to learn from one another and to learn the platforms we will be using to connect with classes and community and and provide meaningful, relevant learning experiences for your learners.

We are looking to roll out these plans on Monday, April 6th, but there are a few things we need your help with in the meantime:
1.  If you have not already, please complete the 4J technology survey EVEN IF YOU HAVE TECHNOLOGY AT HOME. This information is vital in our being able to allocate resources to support remote learning.  Survey can be found at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeDFtO5OtgFhjnwJfHMUO85v1FqWr-xTLSNA2v3AlEdoMwXaA/viewform .  Please note that if you have a translator on your device, Camas Ridge may come up as Beds Ridge.  That’s us.  Choose it.
2.  Watch for communication from your child’s homeroom teacher.  They may be contacting you with invitations to new learning platforms and providing instructions on how to access seesaw or google classroom.
3.  Know that we value the importance of re-connecting kids with school, their teachers and their friends and will prioritize that in our first few activities.  We will strive to engage, challenge and support all our learners at this time and appreciate you flexibility, understanding and patience while we navigate this new terrain .
We miss your kids.  We miss you.  We miss our community.
Thank you for being part of the glue holding us all together.
More soon….
