The following roles and responsibilities are critical to meeting the support needs of our school.

Camas Ridge Community School PTO Facilitator

Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week

Job Description: As leader of the Camas Ridge PTO, the Facilitator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the PTO body. The Facilitator acts as chief spokesperson for PTO, and chief liaison between all components of the Camas Ridge community, including parents, principal and site council. Goal setting and the evaluation process are the primary duties of the Facilitator role.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Identify and set forth PTO goals and a yearly work plan to accomplish them. These goals are to be created in conjunction with parents, administration and teaching staff and they should be in line with stated purpose of the PTO goals.
  • Conducts at least one summer Steering Committee Meeting to plan events for the upcoming school year and review proposed annual budget. Discuss changes and challenges. (Mid-August).
  • Attend first staff meeting of the year.
  • Plans and implements yearly welcome event and New Parent Orientation, in conjunction with CRCS staff and former PTO Facilitator.
  • Speak at School Committee meetings as necessary to present PTO goals/yearly plan.
  • Review Bylaws, Policy Statements, Job Descriptions of the PTO to insure that they serve the changing needs of the Camas Ridge Community. The facilitator will initiate ways to improve PTO events, and the way the PTO functions, on an as-needed basis.
  • Provides support to the Steering Committee officers and PTO committees as needed to meet PTO goals.
  • With Treasurer and other PTO Steering Committee members, review monthly budgets and financial statements of PTO body.
  • Leads monthly Steering Committee and General PTO meetings. Establishing agenda for all meetings with input from Steering Committee, event chairpersons, administrators, staff and parents.
  • Arranges childcare for monthly PTO meeting.
  • Provides agenda to PTO Secretary for distribution to the student/parent population.
  • Meet regularly with Principal to discuss pertinent issues.
  • Works with PTO secretary to organize the dissemination of PTO information to the newsletter and email list.
  • Arranges for report from each Steering Committee member before general PTO meeting or makes sure they will be in attendance.
  • Oversee the annual PTO evaluation processes and from it (in conjunction with co-facilitator) help formulate the next year’s goals.
  • Participate in PTO functions

Special Qualifications: Has a good general understanding of PTO programs, positions, and functions. Familiar with PTO bylaws. Good leadership skills, people skills, and listening skills. Good problem solver. Demonstrates initiative.


 

Camas Ridge Community School PTO Co-Facilitator

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week (3 Year Commitment)

Job Description: The Co-Facilitator is the elected facilitator in training. The role of Co-Facilitator was established to assist the PTO Facilitator in overseeing the activities and work of the PTO Body, and by doing so gaining the experience and rapport that is necessary to serve as PTO Facilitator the following school year.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Fulfils the duties of PTO Facilitator if for any reason they are unable to fulfill her/his obligations.
  • Advise, direct and review the work of other Steering Committee members and PTO committees as requested by the PTO Facilitator.
  • Assist Facilitator in preparing annual operating budget for the PTO during the summer.
  • Plan and conduct Kindergarten Open House in collaboration with Former Facilitator and Principal.
  • Writes weekly PTO updates and announcements for the school newsletter.
  • Will serve as a member of a major fundraising committee.
  • Attends all PTO Steering Committee meetings and PTO general meetings.
  • Agrees to serve as PTO Facilitator during the next school year.
  • Assists PTO Facilitator in the annual PTO evaluation processes, and from this oversees the formulating of the next school year’s goals.
  • Assists nomination committee in recruiting future co-facilitator at the end of school year.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the PTO Facilitator and Steering Committee.
  • Participates in PTO functions.

Camas Ridge Community School PTO Former Facilitator

Time Commitment: 4 hours per week

Job Description: The Former Facilitator of the Camas Ridge PTO is responsible for supporting and advising the current PTO Facilitator. Advising and fulfilling appropriate transition/succession duties are the primary duties of the Former Facilitator role.

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support and input to current PTO Facilitator.
  • Support Facilitator in managing all PTO activities throughout year.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition between school years and new committee members.
  • Attend monthly PTO meetings
  • Plans and implements yearly welcome event and New Parent Orientation, in conjunction with CRCS staff and current PTO Facilitator.
  • Heads yearly PTO nomination committee.
  • Ensures Compliance with PTO Bylaws throughout the school year.
  • Participates in PTO functions.

Special Qualifications: Has served as PTO Facilitator for one term. A good general understanding of PTO programs, positions, and functions. Familiar with PTO bylaws. Good leadership skills, people skills, and listening skills. Good problem solver. Demonstrates initiative.


 

Camas Ridge Community School PTO Treasurer

This role is by default held by the Camas Ridge Secretary, unless amended in PTO Bylaws.

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Job Description: The PTO Treasurers’ primary role is to oversee and manage the finances of the Camas Ridge PTO.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Works with Steering Committee and Administration to set annual fundraising goals and priorities based on identified needs.
  • Oversees and manages fundraising finances. Receiving all funds of the organization, keeping an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and pay out funds.
  • Works with PTO secretary to increase communication of need/goals to parents.
  • Manages the functional/operational needs of each fundraising opportunity (i.e.-credit card machine/contractual obligations, etc.)
  • Prepares a full financial report at the end of the school year.
  • Prepares a monthly report for PTO Steering Committee meetings.

Camas Ridge Community School PTO Secretary

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week

Job Description: PTO secretary’s main function is to document PTO meetings and coordinate dissemination of information to the appropriate persons. The PTO secretary’s primary goal will be to work with sub-committees to document and archive information for future use.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • The secretary will work closely with the PTO facilitator and school secretary to oversee and clarify the dissemination of PTO decisions to general parent body.
  • Records PTO meeting minutes and provides content to Newsletter Editor and appropriate committee members as soon as possible.
  • Works with event chairs to create PTO reference documentation for future event planning and review.
  • Creates and oversees the parent email distribution list to send PTO messages as requested.
  • Coordinates the completion and updating of volunteer roles and event files at the end of the year and as needed.
  • Oversees and works closely with the Database/Directory Coordinator, providing support as needed.
  • Provides information to school website editor when available.
  • Attends monthly PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Participate in PTO functions.

Camas Ridge Community School PTO Teacher Liaison Coordinator

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week

Job Description: The PTO Teacher Liaison Coordinator main purpose is to coordinate the parent liaison program, which supports teachers and provides parent volunteers to individual classrooms as needed.

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as the key point of contact for teachers with the PTO
  • Identifies classroom parent liaisons for each class to assist the teacher volunteer coordination and classroom community building.
  • Supports classroom parent liaisons as needed.
  • Distributes PTO information and school announcements to classroom liaisons as needed.
  • Oversees the Friday Folders Coordinator, providing support as needed.
  • Prepares a monthly report for PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Attends monthly PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Participate in PTO functions.

Camas Ridge Community School PTO Grounds Chair

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week

Job Description: The Grounds Chairs’ main function is to coordinate the garden committee, as well as other grounds projects.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates care of garden beds and regular garden work groups.
  • Works with teachers to coordinate classroom time in the garden.
  • Oversees other grounds projects by parents/volunteers (i.e. outdoor classroom, compost head, safe routes to school), providing support as needed.
  • Prepares a monthly report for PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Participate in PTO functions.

Camas Ridge Community School Volunteer Coordinator

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week

Job Description: The PTO Volunteer Coordinators’ primary function is to oversee the coordination of volunteers for the PTO Body.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provides volunteers to PTO event chairs as needed.
  • Coordinates and assists with teachers and staff sponsored events.
  • Manages event volunteer recruitment as needed.
  • Processes all general volunteer interest forms in September and assists Diane in distributing lists.
  • Oversees the library coordinator, providing support as needed.
  • Maintains a list of need for volunteers in order to utilize volunteer as they are willing.
  • Coordinates volunteer help for school wide non-event needs (ex. School tours, lunch/recess help, picture day, and other needs as they arise.)
  • Provides a monthly report at PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Participate in PTO functions.

Camas Ridge Community School Fundraising Chair

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week

Job Description: The primary function of the PTO Fundraising Chair is to develop fundraising goals in conjunction with the PTO Facilitator, PTO Treasurer and Administration, and develops a working plan to meet these goals.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Works with the PTO Facilitator, Administration and the Steering Committee to develop annual fundraising goals and calendar.
  • Works with the PTO Steering Committee to identify fundraising event chairperson opportunities.
  • Provides monthly overview of progress to goals at general PTO meeting.
  • Implements the Direct Drive in conjunction with the school staff.
  • Prepares a monthly report for PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Works with Community Building Chair to oversee Helping Hearts Rummage Sale.
  • Works with Steering Committee to evaluate fundraising process every year.
  • Provides support as needed to the following fundraising sub-committee chairs:
    • Jog-a-thon
    • Excellent Evening
    • Carnival
    • Book Fair (in conjunction with the library coordinator)
    • Give back programs (E-Scrip, Box Tops)
    • Pizza Nights

Camas Ridge Community School Community Building Chair

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week

Job Description: The PTO Community Building Chairs’ main function is to help facilitate and track projects specific to building an inclusive school community.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and tracks projects/events specific to building an inclusive school community.
  • Attends New Parent Orientation to welcome new parents.
  • Works with CRCS Staff to coordinate regular school assemblies.
  • Attends neighborhood meetings (when available) as a liaison between Camas Ridge and the greater community.
  • Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to encourage and recruit volunteers from community.
  • Provides a monthly report at PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Attends monthly PTO Steering Committee meetings.
  • Participate in PTO functions.
  • Oversees community building event chairs, which include:
    • Welcome Committee
    • Field Day
    • Harvest Festival
    • Bike/Walk to School
    • Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
    • Summer Play Dates
    • Helping Hearts Rummage Sale (in conjunction with Fundraising Chair)
    • Movie Nights
