Events for the 2015-2016 school year are posted to our calendar and our facebook page. These events help us to build community, strengthening the bonds between students and their peers, teachers, and families. Volunteers are always welcomed.

Fall

Welcome Back to School Picnic
The welcome back picnic is a back-to-school event to welcome returning and new families and kick off the year together. Bring your own picnic dinner and join other families at this all school event.

fundraiserLaunch eScrip
Volunteers help get the Camas Ridge Community signed up and using eScrip correctly to bring in money for the school.

Walk and Bike to SchoolWalk and Bike To School Day
Oregon’s Walk and Bike to School Day coincides with International Walk and Bike to School Day. Camas Ridge celebrates the day in the morning with healthy snacks and information tables promoting safe, convenient, and fun opportunities for children to bicycle and walk to and from schools. Volunteers help hand out snacks and bike maps, greet students, and take pictures.

fundraiserJog-a-Thon
The Camas Ridge Jog-a-Thon is one of our most successful fundraisers and promotes health and success among all students. Children collect pledges and then run as many laps around the track as they can. Volunteers are needed to walk students to hand out water, mark off laps, set up and cleanup.

Fall School Garden Work Parties
Volunteers help the garden committee water, weed, plant and harvest at the school garden while the kids play or help with basic tasks. Tools, gloves, and equipment are available.

English Language Learners (ELL) Potluck Dinner
ELL families come together for a potluck dinner to meet the entire ELL staff and socialize with other ELL families.

Harvest Festival
This year, we will have a music room, a story room, and several craft rooms set up for the kids.  We will also have a bonfire and a garden art project. Volunteers assist with setting up the craft rooms, taking shifts with those as well as at the garden, set up and clean up.

Winter

Winter Book Fair and Holiday Market
We collect book donations and partner with Scholastic for one of the largest new and used book fair events in the district. A holiday market featuring Camas family and student artisans, musicians, bakers and crafters is a favorite evening event.

Winter Food Drive
A number of Camas Ridge students depend on free and reduced-price meals provided by the cafeteria throughout the year. By encouraging non-perishable food donations from the Camas Ridge community, we are able to help fill the two-week holiday gap. Volunteers are needed for sorting and distributing the donations.

fundraiserSock Hop-a-Thon
Students collect pledges and then dance as much as they can in the school gym. Volunteers help with set up and cleanup.

Spring

Celebration of Culture
This event is a great opportunity to talk about our unique individual and family histories with our children:  the languages, traditional practices, foods, and celebrations we grew up with…and then to come and share those parts of ourselves with the larger Camas Ridge Community.

fundraiserExcellent Evening – Silent & Live Auction
“Excellent Evening” at Camas Ridge has traditionally been an auction fundraiser which includes a silent auction, dinner, and live auction.  Combined with the Direct Drive fundraising campaign in early fall, the auction helps to fulfill the ongoing funding requirements of the school each year.

“Helping Hearts” Rummage Sale
The event runs on volunteers to donate items, to work shifts for set up beforehand, and to help at the sale. The sale is a fun event to benefit Camas families and is also advertised to the public.
