Dear Camas Families,

Winter Food Drive Dec. 2 – Dec. 18
The Winter Food Drive is a Camas Ridge tradition designed to help Camas Ridge Families who need a little help making ends meet during the winter holidays. Students are encouraged to bring specific food items to their classroom or to food collection barrels in the lobby.

  • Kinders: Breakfast items (oats, cold cereal, hot cereal…)
  • 1st & 2nd grades: Proteins (soy milk, tofu, nut butters, dried legumes, canned meats, legumes)
  • 3rd Grade: Grains (rice, quinoa, millet, dried potatoes…)
  • 4th/5th: Grades Fruits and Veggies (fruit sauces, canned fruits and veggies, dried fruits (raisins, apricots etc…)

Camas Ridge Holiday Market – Sat. Dec. 13 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
On Saturday, December 13th, Camas Ridge will host a Holiday Market. Some of the fantastic items you can expect to find at the sale include new and used books, cloth napkins, facial cloths, cloth baby wipes, Veggie Kidz Facepaint and Cosmetics, race car crayons, pony crayons, Eugene-themed mad Libs, rubber bands bracelets,charms, fabric necklaces, Xmas decorations, Handblown Glass Art, Knitted Hats, Thrive, handmade fabric bags and gift items, pottery and jewelry, ceramics, essential oil crafts/ education, mushroom earrings, wild mushroom cookbooks, and mycology t-shirts. Musicians will fill the gym with sound ranging from cello, classical guitar, mandolin and more! Don’t miss this fabulous event taking place at our school.

Common Core Math for Parents- Monday 6:00 – 8:00 Edison Elementary
Instead of our regular monthly meeting, the Camas Ridge PTO invites you to take a field trip with them to Edison Elementary to learn about Common Core math techniques with UO math professor, Dev Sinha. The class will focus on K-5 and address questions like, “”How can I help my child (when I don’t understand what some activities are getting at)?” Meet at the Camas Ridge Book Fair between 5pm and 6pm to carpool over to the location and to register your kid(s) for our free childcare at Camas.

From Ms. Shofner:
As some of you may have heard, one of our second grade students, Robert Simpson, has been diagnosed with leukemia. While this is sad and serious news, you will be encouraged to know that this is a very treatable illness. Robert’s physicians are confident that he will make a full recovery. He is currently receiving excellent care at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. His family is hopeful that he will be able to return to school after treatment. 

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to support the Simpson Family. This site will allow you to donate and leave an encouraging message to help this family as they face this challenging time. Thank you in advance for the support.

La asociación de padres y maestros les invita ir a la escuela Edison para aprender acerca de los nuevos estándares estatales comunes de matemáticas del profesor Dev Sinha de la universidad de oregon.

Spanish Speaking Family Night – Thurs. Dec. 11th 6:00- 7:30
In an effort to strengthen the Camas Ridge Community, Spanish-speaking families are invited to join Tom, PTO members and other Spanish speaking families for dinner and an open discussion on school to home communication and ways to incorporate Spanish language and culture at Camas Ridge. Childcare is provided at no cost.

The Camas Ridge staff appreciates the opportunity to collaborate on a variety of professional development topics related to our school improvement efforts. We will focus on; Technology Integration, Project Based Learning, Art & Writing.

Dec. 2 ART Block
The second Art Block of the year begins on Tuesday. We encourage parents to discuss with their children the finer points of art and specifics about their respective Art Block class. Camas Ridge families are invited to get behind the scene and witness what happens during Camas Ridge’s famous Art Blocks first handed. The winter book fair kicks off with online shopping at http://camas-ridge.childrensbookstore.com/ on December 3. There will be 190,000 titles to choose from, something for everyone at school and beyond. Order before December 10th to save on shipping by having your selections mailed to the gym to pick up during the on-site fair December 10-17.

No hay escuela, dia de desarrollo profesional

2 de diciembre:
El bloque de arte comienza el martes. Padres y madres de familia pueden conversar con sus hijos acerca del arte y preguntarles acerca de su bloque de arte. 2 al 18 de diciembre, colección de comidas
La colección de comidas en el invierno es una tradición de Camas Ridge para ayudar a familias de Camas Ridge que necesitan ayuda durante el invierno. Estudiantes pueden traer comida a su clase o dejarlo en los barriles de colección en la entrada de la escuela.

  • Estudiantes de Kinder: comida para el desayuno (avena, cereales…)
  • Estudiantes de 1 y 2 grados: Proteinas (frijoles, porotos, leche de soya, tofu, mantequilla de nuez, carne enlatada…)
  • 3 grado: Granos (de trigo, arroz, quinoa, papa seca…)
  • 4 y 5 grados: Frutas y vegetales (salsa de fruta, fruta y verduras enlatadas, fruta seca…)

Las comidas que no se guardan (como leche y comida fresca) pueden traer el 17 y 18 de diciembre. Las cajas serán distribuidas el 19 de diciembre.

3 diciembre
La feria de libros comienza en el internet http://camas-ridge.childrensbookstore.com/
el 3 de diciembre. Habrán 190,000 libros para escoger. Si ordena antes del 10 de diciembre se ahorra en gastos de envíos si recoge los libros en el gimnasio de la escuela.

Voluntarios para la feria de libros y el mercado de festejo.

Dear Camas Ridge Families,

Thanksgiving Holiday
Next week, school is in session Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with Thursday and Friday off for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Monday, December 1st is also a no school day. Students return to school on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Thanksgiving Break 2014

No School Dec. 1st – No School – Professional Development & Planning
High quality professional development for teachers and instructional assistants is an essential component of a strong, innovative school like Camas Ridge. The Camas staff will spend the day creating and refining our Art Blocks and Project Based Learning classes. We will also focus on writing and integrating technology throughout the curriculum.

Queridas familias de Camas Ridge,

Feriado de Accion de Gracias.
Esta semana tenemos escuela el lunes, martes, y miercoles.  El jueves y viernes son días libres para celebrar acción de gracias, no habrán clases.  Lunes, el 1 de diciembre también no hay escuela.  Los estudiantes vuelven a clases martes, el 2 de diciembre.

Dia de desarrollo profesional.
El lunes, 1 de diciembre sera un día de desarrollo profesional para maestros e asistentes instruccionales. Pasaran el día trabajando en crear bloques de arte para los estudiantes y las clases basadas en proyectos.  También trabajaremos en integrar tecnología en nuestro curriculum.
