Welcome Back

Dear Camas Ridge Families,

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful summer weather. The 2015 – 2016 school year is fast approaching. Diane, Brad and I and many of our teachers are busy getting ready for Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and the first day of school on Wednesday, Sept. 9th! (Kinders N-Z begin on Thursday, Sept. 10th)

Important Information
To help prepare families for the first day of school please see; the What’s Happening Aug. 24 – Sept. 11, a full year “At a Glance” Calendar of important school events, the Daily School Schedule, Health information from Helana, School Supply list, Lunch Menu, as well as Resources and Opportunities for Families in Need of clothing, school supplies etc.

Joyce Cedarlund

Welcome Beth, Joyce, Sofie, Donna and Ronny!
Please join me in welcoming the newest members of the Camas Ridge Staff. Beth Shershun will teach 1st grade. Joyce Cedarlund will teach 3rd and 5th grade math in the mornings and she will help her fellow teachers develop enhanced math opportunities for students who exceed the grade level math standards taught in their homeroom math classes. The additional half time math position allows us to offer 3 math classes in 3rd and 5th grades and it reduces class sizes and prevents 2/3 and 4/5 blended classroom teachers from using 2 separate math programs.

Donna Wynn

Donna Wynn

Sofie Prideaux will provide small group reading instruction for K-1 students and she will organize our efforts to increase the percent of students who meet or exceed grade level standards in Reading. Donna Wynn will teach music full time and Ronny Mason will teach P.E half time during the first half of the school year. Students will have at least 2 music classes and one P.E. class per week through January. Students will not have the benefit of a music specialist during the second half of the year. They will have at least 2 P.E. classes per week taught by P.E. specialist Mark Thornton. Parents will receive an updated staff list with teaching assignments, room numbers and e-mail addresses in the Sept. 4th What’s Happening.

We are in the process of hiring a 5th grade teacher to fill in for Chris for the entire school year. We hope to have our new 5th grade teacher on board by Friday, Aug. 28th.

Communication is the Key – What’s Happening & At a Glance
Diane, Grace and I will provide families with the weekly “What’s Happening” & “At a Glance” calendar in English and Spanish. Families who do not have e-mail will receive a paper copy in their child’s Friday Folder.
